Whispering Pond Farms was Carmen Smith’s dream when she was young.  Her love of animals and nature led her to this small, self-sustaining farm in Lowell, Michigan in 1989.  Since then, she has raised horses, goats, sheep, lambs, chickens, and rabbits.  Of course, to be self-sustaining, she added a fabulous garden about an acre in size and grows all of her own vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit, and more.  Her current project is making cheese from the milk she lovingly receives from her goats.  As an additional venture, she started Carmen’s Gardens in 2009 and makes all of her own natural soaps, lotions, and bath scrubs from the abundance of her garden.

Carmen is a nurse anesthetist by trade, but her heart is always with her farm and the bounty her land provides.
